Understanding Penal Code 835a
In 2020, AB392 rewrote California’s use of force law. Yet several years later, police officers are still confused about what those changes mean. Terms like reasonably necessary, apparent intent, and imminent/immediate/instant continue to perplex most officers. Worse yet, we have found that very few California officers can recite the two situations that the new law allows them to use deadly force!
That is why we created this 60-minute training video because California officers must not only know the law, but also understand how to “operationalize” it in the field. Join presenter Scott Savage as he teaches a live audience how to understand the law and also how they can teach it themselves.
